特殊定语从句巧记

1.“one of + 复数名词”作定语从句的先行词,定语从句中谓语动词的数与名词复数保持一致,若先行词为 the one, the very one或 the only one 加名词复数,定语从句中谓语动词的数与 one 保持一致,用单数。即:

(1)one of +复数名词 + 关系代词 + 动词复数

She is one of the students who are praised.她是受表扬的学生之一。

He is one of the boys who have gone abroad for further study.他是其中一个出国深造的孩子。

(2)the only(last,very等)one + of + 复数名词 + 关系代词+ 动词单数

She is the very one of the students who is praised.她就是唯一受表扬的学生。

He is the only one of the students who knows Russian in our school.他是我校唯一懂俄语的学生。

2. the way + 定语从句

(1)先行词 way 在定语从句中作主语或宾语时,用 that 或 which引导定语从句,作宾语时可省略。

He offered some ways that/which worked very well practice.他提供了一些在实践中很有效的方法。(way 在定语从句中作主语)

The way that/which you came up with is quite good.你想出的办法相当不错。(way 在定语从句中作宾语)

The way that/which our English teacher taught us how to re member English words is very interesting, 我们英语老师教给我们记英语单词的方法很有趣。

(2)way用作方式状语,定语从句可以用“that/in which”来引导，也可以省略引导词。

The way(that/which)he explained the difficult problem to us was quite simple.他给我们解释难题的那种方法很简单。(作方式状语)

The way (in which/that)we view learning and knowledge is also changing.我们看待学问和知识的方式也在改变。(作方式状语) 

I hate the(in which/that) you laugh at her.我讨厌你嘲笑她的方式。(作方式状语) 

I don't like the way that he spoke to me.=I don't like the way in which he spoke to me.=I don't like the way he spoke to me.我不喜欢他同我说话的方式。

3.先行词是 time 时,若 time 作“次数”讲,应用关系代词 that 引导定语从句,that 可省略;

若 time 作“一段时间”讲,应用关系副词 when 或介词 at/during+ which 引导定语从句。

This is the second time (that) I have visited the Great Wall这是我第二次参观长城。

I could hardly remember how many times (that)I've been there.我几乎记不起来去过那里多少次了。

This was a time when/during which there were no telephone or TV sets.这就是没有电话和电视的时代。

4.当先行词是一个集合名词时,如果着眼于集体,用that/which;如果着眼于各个成员时,则用who。如:

Our team,which took the second place, is going to play better this year.我们队比去年踢得好多了，这一次是第二名。

Our team,who are all under the age of twenty, will do well in the coming match.我们队里的每位队员年龄都在 20岁以下,定将在本次比赛中表现出色。

5.定语从句中加插入语

关系代词与动词之间有时有一个插人语,有时用逗号断开,有时没有逗号。

常用于插人语的动词有 believe，think,suppose, guess,say等。解题时应注意将插人语抽出,从而化难为易。 

This is the man who I believe is honest.他就是我认为诚实的人。

We choose the students who we think are clever.我们挑选了一些我们认为聪明的学生。
